James N MurphyMr. Murphy was born in San Luis Obispo, California. Mr. Murphy attended Trinity College where he obtained his B.A. in Political Science and minor in Art History in 1987. Mr. Murphy attended Southwestern University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1991. While at Southwestern, Mr. Murphy was on the Dean’s List, received the Dean’s Scholarship Award, Law Review Note and Comment Editor of the Year Award. He also served as Law Clerk to International Law Professor, Robert Lutz. Mr. Murphy was admitted to the State Bar of California and to the U.S. District Court, Central District of California in 1991.

Prior to joining Chapman Glucksman, Mr. Murphy was a partner at Demler, Armstrong & Rowland, where he specialized in Construction Litigation/mold litigation, insurance bad faith claims and catastrophic personal injury lawsuits. Mr. Murphy continues to handle complex construction and business matters throughout the state, with an emphasis on multi party construction claims involving hotels, Casinos, and large commercial and industrial structures. He has mediated, arbitrated and tried numerous cases throughout California. Mr Murphy enjoys golf, historical non-fiction, and is a volunteer librarian and teacher at his daughters’ school.
