Randall J. DeanMr. Dean was born in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1979. In 1983, he earned his juris doctorate degree from Loyola Law School. He was admitted to the State Bar of California and the Bar of the United States District Court for the Central District of California in 1983. He is also admitted to the Bar of the United States Court of Appeal, Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Dean is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), Association of Southern California Defense Counsel (ASCDC), American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County, Orange County, and Santa Monica Bar Associations. Mr. Dean is the former President of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. He was formerly on the ADR Committee of the Los Angeles Superior Court and the Judicial Appointments Evaluation Committee of the LA County Bar and the DRI Task Force on Judicial Independence. He is also a frequent speaker to conferences sponsored by the California CPA Education Society.

His publications include Experts and Attorneys: Joint and Several Defendants? The Witness Chair; The Court-Appointed Expert Witness, The Witness Chair; Identifying and Resolving Conflicts of Interest, California CPA; A Profile of Liability and Damages for Accountants – Guidelines for Risk Management in Today’s Litigious Environment, The National Public Accountant; Effective Client-Screening Techniques, The National Public Accountant. Mr. Dean has also spoken extensively to accountants concerning claims, litigation, and claim prevention. Mr. Dean has recently spoken at the Los Angeles and San Francisco presentations of the California CPA education society on the subject of avoiding malpractice and tax engagements.

Mr. Dean is a frequent speaker on programs sponsored by the Education Foundation for the California State Board of Accountancy. His latest presentation on Avoiding Malpractice Claims on Tax Engagements has been made to large audiences for the past five years.

Mr. Dean has achieved the highest rating of “AV” by the prestigious national lawyer rating organization, Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Dean has tried, arbitrated and mediated numerous complex commercial and professional litigation matters. His areas of specialization include professional liability, business and commercial litigation.
